Description
This is the Piazza dello Spirito Santo Fountain Presepe In Amalfi Italy. One of the favorite Christmas traditions in Amalfi is the creation of the elaborate presepi, or nativities, in two of the town’s fountains. Following Amalfi’s main street from the Piazza Duomo up toward the mountains, you’ll find the little Piazza dello Spirito Santo, which is named after a church that used to be located nearby. The pleasant little piazza is popular with locals and is surrounded by shops and the excellent Taverna del Duca restaurant with outdoor seating. Next to the restaurant is a fountain made from dark volcanic stone with water spouting from two 18th-century carved marble faces. Every Christmas a charming presepe is built in this fountain with tiny figures above and below the water.
